Rochas Perfumes
Rochas, a French fashion house founded by Marcel Rochas in 1925, has grown from humble beginnings to a true icon in the fashion world. For nearly three decades, from 1925 to 1953, Marcel Rochas dressed women in forward-thinking fashions that both celebrated traditional feminine silhouettes and anticipated the needs of modern women in the early to mid-20th century.
He was the first designer to design jackets and skirts with pockets and even created the legendary "Mermaid" dress, a design that still inspires women to this day.
In addition to clothing, the brand expanded its range of fragrances, starting with a trio of perfumes - Avenue Matignon, Air Jeune and Audace - in 1934. During World War II, the perfumes were withdrawn from the market, but the brand's most famous perfume, the timeless classic, Femme, was launched in 1943 and remains a bestseller.
Rochas pioneered cross-selling and also marketed lipstick and stockings as complementary pieces to Femme. In 1949, the first men's perfume, Mustache, was launched.
