Raymond Chaillan was born in beautiful Nice in 1935. He spent his childhood years in Barrême, where his grandfather was surrounded by lavender fields and beehives. This natural environment aroused his passion for fragrances and contributed to his fascination with the world of perfumes. In 1962, Chaillan began his career with Antoine Chiris in Grasse, where he developed his skills and eventually became a perfumer.

Later in 1969 he moved to Paris to work for Roure Bertrand Dupont and refined his craft at several renowned perfume houses, including Firmenich and Dragoco. In 1988 he became Director of Perfumery Research at J&E Sozio and in 1993 he became Director at Argeville. As President of the Société Française des Parfumeurs from 1995 to 1997, Chaillan made an important contribution to the development of the French perfume industry. His involvement with the organization continues today as a member of the Committee Director.

Chaillan's childhood experiences have profoundly influenced his approach to perfume creation in the French countryside. Inspired by the abundance of nature, he infuses his fragrances with a sense of timelessness, elegance and authenticity. His compositions evoke memories and transport the wearer to idyllic landscapes that have inspired him.

Throughout his outstanding career, Chaillan has collaborated with numerous prestigious brands, including Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès, Boucheron and Nina Ricci. Some of his most notable creations include Cacharel Anais Anais, Yves Saint Laurent Opium (1977), Boucheron Boucheron Pour Homme, Givenchy Givenchy III, Yves Saint Laurent Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme, Molyneux Quartz and Hermès Parfum d'Hermes.
