Perfumer Olivier Polge
Olivier Polge could be described as a perfumer against his will. The creative director for Chanel's Fragrances originally wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and learn the perfumer's craft.
However, his dream of becoming a concert pianist fell away due to his talent. Born in Grasse in 1971, the son of Chanel icon Jacques Polge, he decided to study art history. Through his father, he got a student job at Chanel, which changed his life forever.
Olivier Polge immediately gave up his studies to follow the family tradition. He trained at Charabot in Grasse and the Swiss family business AC & M Parfums. He started his career as an intern at International Flavors & Fragrances in 1998. In 2013 Chanel managed to get him.
In 2015, he succeeded his father as head of the entire perfumery department of Chanel. Some personal highlights so far were "Valentino Uomo", "Christian Dior Homme", "Kenzo Power", "Jil" by Jil Sander and the collaboration on the fantastic "Flowerbomb" by Viktor & Rolf.
Olivier Polge has so far created more than 150 fragrances for the most famous perfume houses. Chanel remains his priority. Olivier Polge won the 2009 "Prix International du Parfum", an award that honors particularly innovative and artistically outstanding achievements in the field of perfumery.
