Missoni is an Italian fashion house known for its knitwear, based in Milan. Missoni remains a family business founded by Rosita and Ottavio (Tai) Missoni. Ottavio was born in Ragusa (Dubrovnik) on the Dalmatian coast. His father was sea captain Vittorio Missoni and his mother was Dalmatian, Teresa De Vidović, Countess of Capocesto and Ragosniza.

Rosita and Ottavio first met at the London Olympics in 1948. Before meeting his wife, Ottavio made sports suits, but shortly after they got married they switched to producing knitted dresses.
