Perfumer Jean-Louis Sieuzac

Jean-Louis Sieuzac is a renowned perfumer who has earned his spurs in contemporary perfumery. He began his career with the Roure company, now known as Givaudan, working with some of the industry's leading perfumers. He developed several iconic fragrances that have stood the test of time.

In 1976, Sieuzac created his most famous fragrance, Kouros, for Yves Saint Laurent. The perfume caused a stir for its strong, animal notes and some even claimed that it encouraged drug use. Despite this, Kouros became a cult classic that remains highly regarded to this day.

Sieuzac continued to develop fragrances for top luxury brands, such as Bel Ami for Hermès, Dune and Fahrenheit for Dior and Opium for Yves Saint Laurent. He also collaborated with Shiseido, Oscar de la Renta and Eden Classic.

In 1998, Sieuzac joined Florasynth, which later became Symrise, a German company known for producing fragrances, flavors and active cosmetic ingredients. During his time at Symrise, Sieuzac continued to create exceptional perfumes and contributed to the company's success.

Despite his many achievements, Sieuzac is known for his modesty and privacy about his work. He believes that a fragrance should be judged solely on its olfactory properties and prefers to let his fragrances speak for themselves. Due to his contributions to the world of perfumery, Jean-Louis Sieuzac is considered one of the most influential perfumers of his time. His iconic creations continue to inspire and intrigue fragrance enthusiasts to this day.
