Guerlain is a legendary French perfume house with 175 years of outstanding entrepreneurship, passion and tradition. Guerlain has always used luxurious and rare ingredients for his perfumes, such as French vanilla or ylang-ylang from their own plantations in the Comores Islands. In addition, Guerlain has been a pioneer in the use of synthetic materials: Jicky (1889) was the first perfume in which Aimé Guerlain added a synthetic ingredient, coumarin.

The Guerlain house was founded by Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain in 1828. He started out making ordinary hygiene products, but also created perfumes for his customers, and over time he developed the company into a very successful company that officially became a perfumer for various European royal courts.

The Guerlain perfume house was a family business until 1994, when it was taken over by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH). In 2002, the Guerlain family legacy ended with Jean-Paul Guerlain's retirement, although he still works as a consultant for the house. Thierry Wasser was appointed Guerlain's official in-house perfumer in 2008.
